Applying quantitative approaches to understand why policy effectiveness varies across places — finding no or low-cost strategies for equitable and sustainable societies.
I am a Research Associate at the University of Calgary and Adjunct Research Fellow at the Curtin Institute for Energy Transition, Australia. My work sits at the intersection of environmental policy, energy access, and sustainable development.
My research focuses on plastic waste management, clean energy transitions, and how spatial and socioeconomic factors shape policy outcomes in the Global South. I have led large-scale surveys across 26+ countries and collaborated with 40+ research partners worldwide.
My work has been featured in Nature Communications, Nature Cities, The Guardian, and The Times of India, reflecting both academic and policy impact.
I hold a PhD in Human Geography from the University of Queensland, an MSc in Climate Change from UCL London, an MSc in Natural Resource Management, and a BSc in Environmental Science from Tribhuvan University, Nepal.
